About
Karen has always loved making things. During her early school years, her mom would decorate nearly every square inch of the kitchen wall with her creations. Her favorite subject in school was art, and when her Dad gave her his old 35mm camera, an intrigue with photography began to emerge. Karen's bedroom walls were an ever-changing collage of special greeting cards, sunset photos, and inspirational sayings.
As an adult, Karen maintained a successful office career while being fully immersed in the joys and challenges of motherhood. But she was also gradually rediscovering her passion for art and creativity, making cards as gifts, and teaching art at her sons’ school.
When a neighbour requested Karen’s photo cards to sell in her gift shop, Karen finally decided to respond to the encouragement of family and friends and turned her daydream of creating full time into a reality. In the fall of 2006, she “sailed away from the safe harbor” and introduced into the marketplace a small collection of greeting cards featuring photographic vignettes from her everyday life. Since then, she has not looked back.
Karen’s studio is in the seaside community of Boundary Bay, BC, Canada where she lives with her husband and two sons. Her love of travel and exploring nature are echoed in her varied designs.
By combining her photos with inspirational quotations, she has created the popular and eco-friendly Life Moments greeting card and magnet collection. And, with the launching of three additional card lines, Karen’s creativity and love for “making things” continues to grow and flourish.
"Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things that you didn't do than by the ones you did do. So throw off the bowlines.
Sail away from the safe harbor. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover." Mark Twain
